Derivative applications (MEMS, LEDs …) are source of technological innovations for advanced packaging. Emerging volume markets in MEMS, LEDs, power devices & Si photonics mean an increasing diversity of demands & opportunities for semiconductor packaging technology. We will review some key developments and trend across these growth markets outside of the mainsteam world.


Dr. Eric Mounier has a PhD in microelectronics from the INPG in Grenoble. He previously worked at CEA LETI R&D lab in Grenoble, France in marketing dept. Since 1998 he is a co-founder of Yole Développement, a market research company based in France. At Yole Développement, Dr. Eric Mounier is in charge of market analysis for MEMS, equipment & material. He is Chief Editor of Micronews, and MEMS’Trends magazines (Magazine on MEMS Technologies & Markets)



Mike McLaughlin has been working with emerging technologies for over 12 years at IBM and Cisco and was a principal analyst at Gartner. He now leads all of Yole Développement's activities and business development for North America. Mike is a graduate of Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA
