MEMS supplier Bosch gearing up for internet of things
Bosch, which provides MEMS to the automotive and consumer sectors, is gearing up for new products enabling the Internet of Things (IoT).

MEMS sensors are now a critical component to enhance the functionality of smartphones and other mobile devices. While growing their presence in this fast-growing field, MEMS suppliers are now eyeing opportunities arising from IoT.

Bosch is no exception. Starting 2013, the company has accelerated the development and deployment of its IoT portfolio of products, while continuing to expand its production capacity in-house. Bosch has also been actively looking for new backend partners to support its capacity expansion.

Bosch has been expanding its product mix. Initially a supplier of auto MEMS, Bosch in 2005 founded Bosch Sensortec to focus on the consumer market. In 2009, the vendor acquired MEMS microphone specialist Akustica to further enhance its consumer MEMS portfolio.
