Quartz component maker Siward swings to profits in 2010
Siward Crystal Technology, a major Taiwan-based quartz component supplier, has announced that it swung to net profits of NT$50.18 million (US$1.71 million) in 2010 from losses of NT$267 million a year ago.

Consolidated revenues for the year were NT$2.63 billion, up 41%.

Siward's gross margin climbed 6.15pp to 19.83% in 2010, on a favorable product mix. The company has been developing its oscillator-related products for networking equipment applications.

In addition, Siward said its deployment into the market for MEMS quartz components is expected to bear fruit in 2011.

Market watchers expect Siward's revenues to grow over 15% in 2011, buoyed by new business expansions.

Siward will deal out a cash dividend of NT$0.25 for 2010.
