The investement is to jointly develop ultraviolet LEDs and start marketing the devices by 2015 for germicidal and water purification applications, reported Nikkei. Asahi Kasei has established technology to improve the performance of ultraviolet LEDs by forming an epitaxial layer of aluminum gallium nitride, the report stated.
