EpiCrystals’ advanced light source technology
Laser light sources are headed for next-generation projection display in pico projectors, digital cameras, and smartphones of the future. Demand is increasing for this type of display, because there’s increasing value to being able to project and show pictures— with high-defi nition quality, on virtually any surface—at a much larger scale than currently possible on camera or video camera screens.
And as demand for this type of display grows, technical issues once considered roadblocks to using lasers in projector applications are being solved. Yole Développement estimates that, by 2016, the market for pico projectors market could exceed US$1.6B
Finland-based EpiCrystals Inc. is differentiating itself in the advanced light source market by being the fi rst to provide a RGB (red-greenblue) laser combo in a single component.
