High resolution interferometer from TEEM PHOTONICS
TEEM PHOTONICS, a long term manufacturer of high-performance photonics integrated circuits, has announced an integrated-optics version of a Michelson interferometer, which enables better than 5 nanometers precision displacement-measurement.
The unique optical measurement head is as small as 35x10x3 mm3, is fully monolithic, and can be remotely addressed via 1 to 50 meters of single-mode optical-fibres. The monolithic design allows for exceptional measurement stability against vibration and temperature variation. The design gives access to two interferometric signals, shifted in intensity by p/2 or p. Other shift can be realized, and three or more interferometric signals can be made available. Device is available at 1550nm wavelength, but design and technology are compatible with any other wavelengths in the range 800 to 1600nm.
The optical head can be also used to measure optical index with high precision and reproducibility. More PHOTONICS news Mar 10th
