Micro-Bolometers: MEMS Driving the Uncooled IR Imaging Boom
On Tuesday May 25th at 11:00 AM Eastern Daylight Time.
Driven by dramatic cost reduction for detectors, the market volume for thermography and infrared (IR) imaging will triple by 2015!
Initially developed for the military by US defense companies, IR imaging has been finding its way into more and more commercial application. During the past ten years MEMS based Microbolometers for uncooled infrared IR cameras have been driving growth in thermography and vision markets. Camera prices have been significantly reduced, leading to use of IR cameras for: night vision, automotive vision enhancement; security / surveillance; maintenance; and, building inspection.
