OCI celebrated the first outbound shipment of sapphire ingots at its factory in South Korea’s southern city of Jeonju Friday. The company reported that it will manufacture high value-added 6-inch ingots as well as 2-inch and 4-inchingots. OCI completed construction of a manufacturing facility with an annual output of four million millimeters (mm) in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province at the end of February, and started mass-production of the ingots. The factory adopted the heat exchanger method (HEM) and consequently has improved rate of yield. By introducing the HEM, the company also gained price competitiveness.
