ON Semiconductor introduces best in class system level performance expansion to IGBT portfolio
ON Semiconductor continues to expand its portfolio of high performance IGBTs targeted at high performance power conversion (HPPC) consumer appliance and industrial applications.
The new generation Field Stop II (FSII) devices being launched at PCIM improve switching characteristics and reduce losses by up to 30 percent leading to higher efficiency and translating into lower case temperature, giving designers options for improving overall system performance and reliability. Optimized for targeted applications, these devices show a reduction in case temperature of up to 20 percent over existing devices.
ON Semiconductor has a track record of quality and reliability in IGBTs with automotive AEC-Q qualified IGBT’s in production for more than a decade. In 2011, the company started new development in high-voltage/high-current devices for the growing industrial and consumer marketing, which continue to demand high efficiency solutions. The first full portfolio family of the company’s proprietary Trench Field Stop technology was released in 2012 matching competitive technology. The release of this newest FSII IGBT technology puts the company in a leading market position.
