The silicon carbide inverter REFUsol 020K-SCI from REFUsol reaches a maximum efficiency factor of 98.7 percent.
The new silicon carbide inverter REFUsol 020K-SCI from leading solar inverter manufacturer REFUsol reaches a maximum efficiency factor of 98.7 percent and a European efficiency factor of 98.5 percent. The new product has been showcased at this year’s Intersolar Europe in Munich (June 13 – 15, 2012).
With this high-end solar inverter, REFUsol offers a device with maximum performance. The silicon carbide (SCI) technology and further optimisations ensure that REFUsol 020K-SCI can do everything a little bit better than its relatives from the established inverter series REFUsol 008K – 020K. Due to transistors based on silicon carbide, a semiconductor with lower circuit losses than silicon transistors commonly used in power electronics, a high efficiency factor across the whole output and input voltage is guaranteed. REFUsol also increased the performance of the transformerless device to up to 20kW AC. In addition, the premium solar inverter performs without noise and can be operated in high temperature environments.
Further characteristics of the new solar inverter 020K-SCI include a broad input voltage range from 490 to 800V, a precise and quick MPP tracking and a low weight of only 40kg.

The device currently undergoes tests in the lab of leading trade publication Photon and is according to Photon a “top ranking candidate”.
