Graphene is a material that has a promising future. Swedish research has shown to be leading in manufacturing graphene on silicon carbide. The applications range from demanding electronics to various approaches of biosensors.

The company was founded in November 2011 by the researchers who have taken the first steps of the commercialization and as entrepreneurs. The business development curve has an international evolution as judged from the customers during the first year. And this can be speeding up. Some of the potential applications are energy related. Therefore the Swedish Energy Agency supports the company with about € 60000 for business development that will bring the company to a balanced evolution.

Last year Graphensic was selected as one of the 33 hottest technology start‐up companies in Sweden. The company is a member of LEAD Incubator that support start‐up companies from university research. The new financing will provide the company the possibility to raise the vision with an experienced entrepreneur.

The financing is intended for a chairman of the board, and that person will also be working with sales and marketing, says Mikael Syväjärvi, cofounder and project manager against the Energy Agency.

The company will during 2013 be in contact with investors. The need of production may increase fast, and new equipment will then be needed.
