Last year at the 27th PVSEC in Frankfurt, SoLayTec introduced the InPassion ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition) mass production machine for low cost deposition of Al2O3.
SoLayTec announces that it installed its first two mass production machines.
Both machines are installed at solar cell manufacturers of high efficiency crystalline solar cells in Asia. The total number of installed InPassion Lab to Fab by SoLayTec is eight, which makes SoLayTec market leader in spatial ALD equipment.
“In the market of Al2O3 deposition equipment the competition is huge,” stated by Roger Görtzen manager marketing and sales and co-founder of SoLayTec. “Besides that our layer yields the best possible passivation and our customers strongly see the advantages of our product compared to our competition. First the flexibility in layer thickness, resulting in direct and proportional output increase if the layer thickness is reduced. Secondly the modular design of the system enables a single module to be serviced while the other modules continue production. This results in uptime, yield and consequently overall our Cost of Ownership that are the best in class. Further we offer a factor 5 less trimethylalumina (TMA) consumption compared to PECVD equipment.”
Görtzen concludes; “In the last 12 months our customers have demonstrated that our Al2O3 layers increase their cell efficiencies by at least 0,5% gain on p-type multi and n-type mono material and for p-type mono crystalline material we have achieved results up to 1,0% gain.”
SoLayTec is a spin-off company from the Dutch research organisation Toegepast Natuurwetenschappelijk Onderzoek (TNO) and established in 2010. The largest shareholder of SoLayTec is RENA. The company develops, delivers and services machines for atomic layer deposition (ALD) on solar cells worldwide. The SoLayTec ALD machines are intended for research and industrial mass production in the solar market. SoLayTec InPassion ALD production equipment will be sold together with RENA GmbH on the solar market.
