Fabless semiconductor companies constantly face the challenge of designing competitive products which can easily be manufactured by their manufacturing partners with good yields. Comprehensive access for their design, test and quality engineers to the design rules and guidelines is key to implement the required Design for Manufacturability (DfM) practices”, says Yole Développement.

Yole Développement and Serma Technologies announce the conference, Successful Fabless Semiconductor 2013, jointly organized in Novotel Vaugirard, Paris, from April 10 to 12, 2013.

With four sessions dedicated to the fabless industry including design, industrialization and a special focus on the fabless in the Power Electronics area, SSF 2013 program covers business, technology and supply chain challenges. Both partners, Yole Développement and Serma Technologies, invited worldwide industrial players of both large global companies & SMEs. Debates, networking time and exhibition area have been planned at the end of each session.

The fabless model has existed in the semiconductor sector for many years and has proven to be quite successful. Today, the top 12 fabless semicon companies share 80% of the market. Based on this long-running and continuously growing success, we see the emergence of many fabless companies in other sectors, such as MEMS, Sensors and the Power industry.

The fabless model is very attractive for start-up companies, as it doesn’t require a significant capital investment. Additionally, the fabless model provides access to the latest production equipment and processes.

However, the model is not without its challenges, including definition of IP and innovation strategy, organizing and securing the supply chain, and controlling production process and quality.

These are the key topics Serma Technologies and Yole Développement propose to debate through a dedicated event jointly organized in Paris on April 10-12, 2012 with invited presentations by worldwide companies.
