The exciting next steps of machine vision and thermal imaging technologies.

The first Yole Développement and CIOE forum on machine vison and infrared imaging

Yole Développement is proud to collaborate once more with the China International Optoelectronic Expo (CIOE) to organize the Executive Forum on Industrial Machine Vision and Thermal Imaging. It will take place on September 11, 2020 in Shenzhen, alongside the 22nd CIOE and will include presentations focused on industrial applications.

Machine vision continues to expand into new territories beyond factory automation, including farming, robotic cars, and intelligent transportation systems. Moreover, new exciting technologies are reaching maturity: 3D sensing, hyperspectral imaging, and event-based imaging. These new technologies will help machine vision to expand its application scope.
On the other hand, the uncooled thermal camera business is flourishing, surpassing 1.5M units and $4B in revenue during 2019. Applications are numerous, including thermography, surveillance, Personal Vision Systems (PVS) and firefighting. Furthermore, due to the coronavirus outbreak in February, thermal cameras were very sought after, particularly in Chinese infrastructure including airports, stations, hospitals and buildings in order to monitor people’s temperatures and detect cases of fever.

Finally, thermal cameras have proven their worth as redundant sensors in autonomous vehicles for people or goods transportation, with various players, such as GM Cruise, Veoneer and Nuro, integrating them in their vehicles and FLIR securing a strong position with its collaborations.
