IQM of Finland places multi-system order for Veeco’s atomic layer deposition system to enable next generation quantum computing

Veeco Instruments announced that IQM Finland OY, a quantum computing hardware company and a key player in Europe’s quantum ecosystem, has selected the plasma-enhanced Fiji® Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) System to help drive the future of quantum computing.  The Fiji platform was chosen to be the tool of record due to the exceptional superconducting film capabilities of complex materials compared to the competition.

Throughout our evaluation phase, it became clear that Veeco’s Fiji system is the unparalleled process technology solution we need to help us drive the future of next generation quantum computing,” stated Dr. Juha Vartiainen, Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of IQM.  “The platform has demonstrated outstanding process capabilities and the Veeco support team is a clear difference-maker in helping IQM bring application-specific problem solving to a multitude of industries.”

According to Research And Markets, the quantum computing market is poised to grow by 7.35 billion U.S. dollars during the 2021 to 2025 time frame, progressing at a compound annual growth rate of 19% during that time.

We are proud to have been selected by IQM of Finland, a leader and well-connected institution that will accelerate quantum computing capabilities in a remarkable way,” commented Ganesh Sundaram, Ph.D., Vice President, Research and Engineering for Veeco’s ALD. “The Fiji systems offer unique process solutions that are essential to producing superconducting nitride films and we look forward to working with Dr. Vartiainen and his team to help them drive their mission of building the quantum computers of the future now.”
