Millions invested in new energy: Lithium Werks focuses on storage, transport and smart software. Energy management company Lithium Werks B.V. has announced that it will build a major clean energy research and development (R&D) campus at Twente Airport. “In order to achieve a real transition, from fossil fuels to renewables, energy has to be available in the right place and at the right time,” said the initiator Kees Koolen, chairman of the board, Lithium Werks. “Over the next five years, we will recruit some 2,000 people to develop clean energy technologies at the campus.”

Industry groups from Japan and China are teaming up to standardize next-generation quick chargers for electric vehicles (EVs), which are expected to become the global norm. Japan's CHAdeMO Association said that it will develop the standards with the China Electricity Council and aims to put them into practical use by 2020. The two groups will sign an agreement in Beijing on Aug. 28.

As a spinoff of the ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences, Share your BICAR AG is continuing to develop its shared mobility solution. The project has now raised the necessary support from a Swiss investor, two EU development projects, and other partner companies that are bringing the project closer to its market release. As early as next year, the first BICARs could be racing through the streets.
