The Indian unit of Japanese automaker Honda Motor is considering investing over $1.2 billion as part of plans to launch new models, including electric vehicles, and fund its expansion in the South Asian country. Honda Cars India, which has already announced its plans to launch six new models in India over the next three years, revealed this week that one of the models will be an “affordable” hybrid car catering to the mass market.

BorgWarner celebrated the inauguration of its new production plant in the Caidian Economic Development Zone in Wuhan, China, with a grand opening ceremony. Occupying a land area of 48,595 square meters and floor area of 26,000 square meters, the new facility integrates comprehensive functions including production, engineering, quality, sales, logistics, administration and finance. As part of its efforts to support growing demand from the Chinese combustion, hybrid and electric vehicle market, BorgWarner’s new facility will produce drive motors, P2 motors, Belt Alternator Starter Systems, starters, alternators and related components.

The automotive giant, BMW, has announced it will invest $4.16bn to increase its interest in Chinese company, Brilliance Automotive, in a move that will see its stake rise from 50% to 75%. The Germany-based firm will also invest over $3.4bn to enhance its existing production capacity in China, BBC News reports.
