EELs are mainly used in optical communications, with optical systems for datacom and telecom.

It is today the largest EELs segment with 56 percent of the total revenue in 2018.” The potential market size for EELs in future, is said to be worth $4.6 billion for 2023 at a CAGR of 13 percent.
